Understanding How to Buy Eliason Doors

1 Plan Your Door Location

Determine where the door will be installed—between kitchen and dining, prep and storage, or other zones. Make sure it does not inhibit traffic or guest seating.

2 Fabrication and Function
Select the Eliason door style and construction that best match your traffic level, use, and sanitation needs.

Inside Material

  • Economy (Light Duty) Doors
Made from 1/16" aluminum or stainless steel sheet, these light-duty doors provide reliable separation and easy operation in light-traffic applications.
  • Solid Core (Medium Duty ) Doors
Constructed from ¾" composite wood with optional stainless steel, aluminum, or laminate skins—perfect for moderate-traffic kitchens and prep areas.
  • ABS Polymer (Medium Duty) Doors
With a 5/8" thick ABS honeycomb core, these doors withstand carts, trays, and repeated impacts. Available in a wide range of colors and finishes.

Outside Finish

  • Stainless Steel Finish
Durable, sanitary, and timeless—ideal for professional kitchens, supermarkets, and institutional facilities.
  • Aluminum Finish
Lightweight, economical, and corrosion-resistant, offering dependable daily performance.
  • High-Pressure Laminate
Choose from decorative finishes and colors to coordinate with dining spaces or themed interiors.
  • ABS Color Polymer
Offered in multiple solid colors for a clean, durable, easy-to-maintain surface.
3 Measure Twice. Order Right The First Time.

Measure your rough doorway opening for a precise factory fit. Eliason will cut your door to that size, including required hardware clearance.

Take horizontal measurements at the top, middle, and bottom of the opening, and vertical measurements on both sides and the center. Submit the smallest of the measurements for a tight fit.

Then order the next higher door sku. For example, openings up to 36" require a 36SINGLE door. A 36.1" measurement would require the 40SINGLE door. Eliason will custom cut your door down to the necessary width.

All doors have a maximum of 84" height, but can be cut down to your needed height dimension.

4 Colors, Baseplates and Other Upgrades

Some laminate door models are available in more than 20 solid, patterned, or woodgrain laminate finishes. ABS polymer doors are available in 15 bright solid colors. Ask about adding durable baseplates or upgraded windows too.

5 Ordering, Shipping, and Installation

Order online or via phone. ZESCO coordinates fabrication and freight delivery directly from Eliason’s Michigan plant. Typical lead time is 10 business days after order approval - plus shipping time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Click on a question for an answer.

What’s the difference between light-duty and medium-duty doors?

Light-duty doors typically feature a thin aluminum or stainless steel (1/16" thick) panel and are intended for lower-traffic areas. The thin construction make make them louder when bus carts or people crash into them.

Medium-duty doors include a solid wood or polymer core for added impact resistance, making them ideal for frequent cart or tray traffic. They also tend to absorb sound better.

What is the typical lead time for an Eliason door?

All Eliason doors are custom-fabricated to order and ship within 10–15 business days after approval. Transit time varies depending on location and freight carrier.

Does ZESCO sell Eliason door parts or replacement components?

ZESCO does not stock or sell parts directly. For hinges, bumpers, or other hardware, please visit PartsTown.com or contact Eliason Corporation directly for OEM replacement components.

Can ZESCO install Eliason doors?

Eliason doors are designed for straightforward installation by a qualified general contractor or maintenance technician. For self-installation, Eliason has created installation guides and how-to videos that walk through the process step by step.

Do these doors come pre-hung or ready to install?

Each Eliason door set is factory-prepped for field installation, including the hinge hardware and mounting plates. You’ll receive everything needed to hang the doors in your existing jamb or opening.

Can I use these doors in a front-of-house or retail area?

Absolutely. Many operators choose decorative laminate finishes to blend with customer-facing areas while still enjoying the convenience of a double-acting swing door.

Do Eliason doors require regular maintenance?

Very little. Most models use self-lubricating hinges and impact-resistant panels that require only periodic cleaning.Check hinge bolts periodically and wipe surfaces with a mild detergent.

Are these Eliason traffic doors fire rated?

No. Eliason traffic doors are not fire-rated and are designed strictly for physical separation between kitchen and dining areas, storage rooms, or prep zones—not for use in rated fire walls.
